For dessert, we shared a classic Bananas Foster for two, prepared tableside. I opted for a 12-ounce prime New York strip steak with bearnaise sauce and bacon wrapped shrimp, baked potato and tempura green beans. For an entree, my wife a seven-ounce filet mignon with bearnaise sauce, mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. On our recent visit, my wife and I started with shrimp cocktail, a bowl of king crab and corn bisque, Maryland crab cakes and a Caesar salad with romaine lettuce, croutons, parmesan cheese and Caesar dressing. Eddie Merlot's, which is open from 5 to 8:30 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 5 5 to 9:30 on Friday and Saturday and 2 to 8 on Sunday, also has locations in Burr Ridge and Warrenville in the Chicago suburbs and in Colorado, Indiana, Massachusetts, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan. North Milwaukee Avenue, at Route 45, in Lincolnshire's Village Green, it is the only restaurant in the United States that serves Wagyu beef from the award-winning Tarpoly Creek Ranch in South Queensland, Australia. So why did it take us so long to discover Eddie Merlot's in Lincolnshire? It is a premium chain serving prime aged steaks and seafood with a lengthy wine list in plush surroundings. There are many outstanding steakhouses in the Chicago area. Waiter never came out to say anything like we did not forget you. I did ask to speak to the chef but he never came out. We waited 15-20 minutes and just got up to leave as the manager walked over to us when we got up to leave. They then put down dessert plates even though we had not ordered any. The manage was gracious and said no charge for the main courses. It is now 8:00PM with our 6:00 pm reservation. Redish orange and RAW almost to the outside. We gave it back and it then arrived all fixed to medium BUT when cutting into it, raw meat only with a bit of a char on the outside. My spouse cut into it and it was totally raw on the inside. The 6 oz filet (ordered medium) was a lone wolf in the middle of a large plate with nothing on it. 15 minutes later the rest of the meal arrived. The waiter(who we did not see in that time period brought the 2 chicken dishes and said the filet and salmon would be right out. Chicken came fairly warm to hot but acceptable after the hour. We ordered the grilled romaine and it was very good. Yes one hour with a half full restaurant. Seated on time and restaurant was about 50% full. In the past, we have been happy but this evening was just terrible. Review Indiana-grown Eddie Merlot's has Something the other Steakhouses don't: a strategy for luring the ladies. We have been eating here for 5 plus years and this was our biggest disappointment.
